I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Strategic Manufacturing Solutions (Auburn Hills, MI) in Nov 2014
Interview
Short, they did a presentation of the work they did there. Asked me if I would be interested in the work, building 3d models, simulations, working with Chrysler. Basically it was a sales pitch for an LLC that was required to work there. I took the offer because it was the first job I got right out of college and had to pay for my school loans some way.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Strategic Manufacturing Solutions (Auburn Hills, MI) in Sep 2013
Interview
Most of the interview sounded like a sales pitch, trying to sell the idea of the LLC sign-up all are required to do (and pay for). The interview lasted about an hour and included a tour of the offices, which happens regardless or not if you get the position. Usually 2 or 3 people are present for the interview.

Interview
Initial phone interview included personal "fun" questions and a few scale-from-1-to-10 skills questions. On-site interview included behavioral questions from a few engineers, a tour of the company. They repeatedly tell you how you're a good fit. Then came the pitch. That's right, a pitch. The CEO closes the door to the conference room and pitches their "payment" strategy. You are NOT an employee OR a contractor. You are required to create your own LLC and bill the company for your time, but there IS NO CONTRACT. This is their way of skirting around taxes and benefits. They tell you you'll be an "entrepreneur," but I'm not sure they know what that means.
