I was referred by a staffing agency. They felt I had the experience and qualifications to earn an interview with the hiring company. Apparently I didn't. I don't know how that was decided since the interview process was the most unstructured, unprofessional meeting I've had in my career. I arrived on time and then spent the 35 minutes sitting in a chair by the front door while I waited for the company president to return from lunch. I finally sat down with him and his wife while they read my resume. The place is a bit of a dump. Not what you would expect of a biotech company. We took a tour of the facility. It's basically a warehouse/garage with a bunch of freezers. It's cramped and disorganized. There's no kind dress code at all. Two of the employees were dressed like a couple of call girls and the rest were all wearing jeans with tank tops or t-shirts. I started to feel overqualified for the place and embarrassed to be wasting my time. I guess I wasn't a good fit, which was a relief since I would not have taken the job anyway.
