I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Springer Nature in Apr 2018
Interview
The interview was via skype and was long and intense. Before the actual interview I was asked to give 3 titles for Reviews/Perspectives, propose a topic for an Editorial and write a Blog on a research Article I had enjoyed reading. At the beginning of the actual interview I had 90 minutes to assess three papers. I was asked to summarize the papers and also to decide whether I would send them out for review and, if yes, which referees' expertise I would need to for a thorough peer-review process. I was also given a summary of referees' reports on papers that the Chief Editor had sent out for review and I was asked to make an Editorial decision (reject/revise) based on that.
