      Production Assistant Interview

      Apr 18, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Sport Obermeyer (New York, NY) in Mar 2017

      Interview

I found the job advertised on linkedin.com with no information on how to apply. I had to call the customer service number on their website and they gave me an email address of someone they thought would be able to help me. The person I emailed responded quickly and politely and forwarded my resume to the HR department. All unusual but easy enough to figure out. Then I had to deal with a very rude and unprofessional HR person who didn't even work in Obermeyer's headquarters in Colorado, but was located in New York. She first introduced herself as a doctor and barely explained her relation to the company but sent me a link to take about 4 aptitude tests. I did so the same day she sent them, however, one of the tests had all the questions out of order so that it was impossible to answer them (about 90 questions which were relative to the question above, all mixed up). I quickly realized this while taking the test and emailed her to let her know that the test was not set up properly. She then emailed me back saying not to get frustrated because it was a difficult test and to try again. It took about 3 more emails before she could figure out herself that the link no longer worked and this was only after I sent screenshots. After the ridiculous back and forth with her not checking her own work before sending it to me she asked me to meet with her over WebEx that same day. I have a full time job so I was not able to drop everything I was doing that day and politely explained my availability the next week (it was a Thursday). She then continually demanded that I meet with her late on Thursday evening or over the weekend even thought I kept telling her my availability was the following week. She eventually complied and said we'd meet over WebEx the next week. I then had to continue to explain that I didn't have access to WebEx (I have an older laptop and could not gain access to the program). She kept demanding that I get WebEx even though I'd provided her my phone number and asked if there was a reason we couldn't meet by phone (I even offered to drive the 3 hours to Aspen to meet in person before I knew she was in New York). When it finally came time for the interview, she still kept emailing me that I needed WebEx and only believed me after I sent a screenshot that the program wouldn't work on my computer. She then called me and said "I don't really have time for this interview today, can we meet tomorrow?" I complied although I was irritated and thought it was unprofessional of her to schedule an interview when she didn't have time. The other thing that was irritating throughout the whole process is she kept acting as if I knew she was in New York and on EST time rather than at the headquarters in Colorado on MST time (which is also where I live so I assumed the interview would be in that time zone). The whole process was overly unprofessional and irritating for a job that I was overqualified for.
