After applying through linkedin, I got an email from workable to schedule the 15 min call. After having 15 mins call with basic questions of number of years experience on certain technologies and last problem I solved, I was told that I'll get an email to complete a home take assessment within 5 days.
After I got assessment, I didn't know it'll really take 5 days, I started casually on last day as they suggested it took most people 2 hours. The assessment was really structured but it was very open ended and everything left upon your imagination and decison to include the depth into it with a remark that you will be judged on your technical skill as Principal.
Ofcourse after reading that I couldn't just complete it in 2 hours, it took me 2 days because I wanted to show my in depth knowledge. I probably went overboard.
After submitting the assignment I got a replay within few hours, my assessment is not upto the mark as Principal Engineer standards (which is fine). But I was looking for some constructive feedback what went wrong.
One thing they missed is tracking on urls and email receipt which I had configured while submitting the assessment and I realised they never even accessed the github URL and launch the link of deployed code which clearly tells me they didn't review my assessment and just either used generic email response or bluntly said I'm not upto principal engineer task.
If they have an audacity to waste people's time, they should have boldness to face candidates and tell the truth with honest feedback
