I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at SkyWest Airlines (Denver, CO) in Sep 2018
Interview
Interviewed in DEN. OO positive space travel to the interview; I paid for the hotel ($99 @ Holiday Inn Express; mention SkyWest). Interview started at 0800 sharp and was at FlightSafety, which was within walking distance. Began with two interviewers introducing themselves and providing a brief presentation about the company, their fleet, and their history. Then, we split into pairs with another applicant for a crew scenario. More experienced applicant was FO and less experienced was the CA. After scenario, one of the two interviewers completed an HR interview including a resume review, and the other interviewer completed a technical interview including a logbook review. Each session (scenario, HR, and tech) lasted about one hour. Break at noon for a box lunch provided by the company. Afterward, hotel shuttle will take you back to the airport.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1-Scenario: RAP-ORD: ORD below minimums; what do you do? Now, MKE (filed alternate) below minimums, what do you do? Provided fuel remaining and weather at nearby stations.
2-HR: What are your strengths? Why SkyWest? Have you ever disagreed with your supervisor? What would you do if you saw someone drinking on the job? What do you like to do for fun?
3-Technical: Brief this approach (ILS 16R DEN). Where is the MAP? What are the approach minima? What do you do if the weather deteriorated below minima before crossing the FAF? What if it happens after? What do you need to see to land? What do you do if you are the PM and reach minimums and don’t see the lights? What if the PF continues the landing after you call, “no contact; go around?”
I applied online. I interviewed at SkyWest Airlines (Oklahoma City, OK) in Jul 2024
Interview
Interview was about 2.5 hours. Very straightforward if you use airline interviews. Very friendly as well. If you don’t know the answer just admit it or ask them to rephrase.
I interviewed at SkyWest Airlines (Los Angeles, CA)
Interview
The interview is normally a two hour technical interview that details everything sent in a prior email. HR questions may or may not be a few simple questions about demographic.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review about the first officer interview process with SkyWest Airlines. We are happy to hear that you had a positive experience. Welcome to SkyWest Airlines!
Interview was 1 hour 45 min. I recommend studying before the interview as it was fairly technical for systems questions. Study Jepp charts to include airport diagram, SIDS, STARS. We also dove into weather quite a bit.
