Question 1
I was asked more general interview questions (about my experience, strengths and weaknesses) and some situational questions (how I navigate coworker/client conflicts).
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Skin Laundry in Nov 2024
Interview
I initially interviewed for a Keyholder position in SoCal. The process was like most retail interviews, 3 rounds. I had an initial screening with recruiter and a second/third with both CM and DM via virtual platform. I had no problem with the interviews, they actually went well. They invited to interview in person for an elevated position at another location which was great. I interviewed with the CM for that location which was in Pasadena about 40 miles away from where I initially applied. The interview with the CM was great and I believe we would've definitely made a great team. I was invited to come back in for a laser treatment to experience the process as a client. This should mean that I would be extended an offer, right? Well not quite! I was later told that the position was put on hold due to company transition. No worries, just gas wasted. I was asked if I would consider an opening at another location which would add another 30 miles to my commute. I asked if there could be a mileage reimbursement an what would that pay look like. Mind you the location that I originally applied to is already 40 miles away but I was willing to commute further for the ACM position in Pasadena. The recruiter told me to think about Santa Monica but there may be another opening at the original location that I applied to in Rancho Cucamonga. This entire process started mid November. Christmas comes and goes, nothing. I notice that the position that the recruiter mentioned was posted on an online platform. I applied and reached out to the recruiter and DM. The recruiter tells me she's waiting to hear back from the CM but the DM told me the position was filled. This company, the recruiter moreover doesn't realize the time and energy that I put into this process. It's one thing to not know but to be dishonest about a position that I was told about is a horrible practice. Meanwhile, its the end of January and I have yet to hear back from the recruiter. If this is how Skin Laundry operates as a company, I wouldn't recommend to the needy. I also understand the importance of internal promotions but you all should not mislead external candidates and start the process with interested internals. Bottomline, I was given the run around just to end up ghosted by the recruiter. Horrible!
