      Video Content Producer Interview

      Jun 19, 2018

      Melbourne
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sites n Stores (Melbourne) in Apr 2018

      Interview

This was a VERY lengthy process. There are a series of activities that must be completed as a part of the first round of interviews. 1. Networking Speed Dating test: You sit down and chat to other candidates for a few minutes and when the bell rings you score the person you just spoke to. I can appreciate the company attempting to test networking abilities, however the questions seemed off-handed. E.g 'Do you trust this person' (rate from 1 - 5) and 'Did they seem like a happy person'. It was all a little forced. 2. Group task: Working in teams you must come up with an idea and sell it. Basically they just want to see how you work with other people and how you present ideas. This one wasn't too hard. 3. Go on stage and say something you're thankful for and something you're most proud of. This can me time consuming when there is a room full of 30 people attempting to make an impression. It drags. Basically Drew Doolan will sit there and watch you like a hawk, and at the end three people reveal they are already current staff members. After the "secret" is revealed, you then proceed to one-on-one interviews with the current staff members. I get what Sites n Stores are trying to do but it was a bit elementary for people who are already established professionals in the industry. I made it to the next stage which requires you to answer questions in a written document and send through links to your work. Unfortunately, I didn't make it past this round. If you swapped these two stages around it would make more sense. After such a lengthy interview process, the things I am most disappointed about is the lack of feedback. Applicants put in quite a few hours for this and if you don't make it all you receive is a generic 'unsuccessful application' email. After asking for feedback I didn't get a reply.
