      Project Manager/Developer Interview

      Mar 24, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Silvercar

      Interview

First round was a phone screen with HR. Second round was a phone call with the dev team and a technical question conducted online. Third round was on-site with a project manager and the dev team. The first two rounds were pretty typical tech interviews (i.e. culture fit and tech questions). However, the on-site interview was quite strange. No one was there to meet me when I arrived. After a few minites I called HR. No one answered so I left a message. No one called back. Eventually a random employee noticed I was waiting in the lobby area and found someone else to bring me to the room where the interview was to be held. Once inside, the interview was broken up into meetings with two groups of people. No one from the groups appeared to be in charge (i.e. the boss/hiring manager) and no one identified themselves as such. During the first group I was asked several questions which I was not prepared for given the scope of work outlined in the job description provided when I applied. There was also a whiteboard test where I felt as if I was being patronized by the interviewers. The second group was with the dev team. They appeared to be unprepared and to have done little research on me or my background. At times, they were consumed by whatever they were doing on their laptops. They also seemed to be making up questions as they went along. Midway through they informed me that the CTO was bailing on the interview. By the end, it felt like I was more or less running the meeting since I was leading the conversation and asking them all of my prepared questions I had. When I exhausted those, I closed the meeting and left. I later sent thank you emails to the team members I met with but no one from Silvercar has ever contacted me. Reflecting on what happened, I can't help but feel disrespected by the lack of professionalism on display by the interviewers during the on-site interview. But the ghosting afterwards is what really casts Silvercar as a wreck. I put in a lot of time researching and preparing for this meeting and in return I was met with folks who appeared to care very little about me as a candidate or as a person. Ghosting someone is extremely poor form and has no place in any hiring process. I regret having had this experience and will avoid Silvercar in the future.
