      Java Software Developer Interview

      Sep 24, 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cairo, Cairo Governorate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SiliconExpert (Cairo, Cairo Governorate) in Sep 2020

      Interview

I applied online on arrow's website (mother company), got a call from HR a week or so after, then was contacted by a team leader to schedule an interview couple of weeks after the HR call. The interview was 1H and 30mins, and was done online with two engineers. There nothing special about it, typical questions about java, design patterns, threading, Spring and a few database questions, mainly they ask a very general question and according to your answer they will ask more detailed follow up questions, so you have to really know what you are talking about, not just shallow knowledge. Couple of days after the first interview I was contacted by another engineer to schedule a 30mins manager interview, this one included technical questions but was not as the first, and mainly questions about your career. All the interviews did not contain anything remotely close to problem solving, only theoretical questions. After that they did not contact me at all, I had to send an email after a couple of weeks to follow up, they responded that the vacancy was no longer open, no idea why they had to wait for me to ask though.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

below are some of the questions with no order: - What design patterns do you know? explain and give reason why we use such patterns. - what is the main benefits of Spring? what is IOC? what is DI? - what is collections in java? how a set works - how to create a thread? what is java executor? - what is the difference between a view and a materialized view?
