      EIT Interview

      Feb 2, 2022

      Orlando, FL
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Siemens Energy (Orlando, FL) in Nov 2021

      Interview

I applied online in the beginning of September 2021. I received an email about two weeks later that they wanted me to complete an on-demand interview. Once I completed the on-demand interview, I let the HR liaison that had reached out to me know that I completed it and he let me know he'd forward it to the manager for review. I followed up about three weeks later after not hearing back and learned that they were interested in interviewing me in November at an in-person hiring event. I scheduled a flight through their travel portal and flew out to Orlando in early November. There were two panel interviews and it was a whole day event with breakfast and lunch provided. It was honestly really lovely and I really liked everyone I spoke with, including the five interviewers. I felt that I did well enough though of course knew I came across as at least slightly nervous. I heard back the next week from the head recruiter and we played a bit of phone tag, so she had left me two voicemails sounding very upbeat, so I was feeling optimistic about getting on the phone with her. I finally managed to get on a phone call with her and she told me that the interviewers really liked me and that I'd made a good impression on everyone but that they did not think I was a good fit for the position. However, she asked if it would be okay for her to float my resumé around the company to see if there were any openings that I might be a good fit for and I told her yes. I also got responses to two of my "thank you" emails that I'd sent to the interviewers, and one was after this phone call where the interviewer stressed that everyone liked me but that I just wasn't a good fit for this role, and would I please connect with her on LinkedIn. Overall, everyone was very nice and though I haven't heard further about any other opportunities from them and I'm still waiting for some reimbursements (food, parking at the airport, etc.), it was an incredibly positive experience! A lot of the people that were there as graduates of this EIT program were ex-military, so any experience you have dealing with veterans or active members would be helpful for not being intimidated.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Lots of behavioral, situation-based questions, e.g. "tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult team member." Also, one of the men really grilled me about whether or not I'd be able to handle working with union millwrights and laborers that wouldn't necessarily respect freshly-graduated from college women, and potentially needing to travel out to random places in the world on a moment's notice, like China or the Middle East.
