      Quality Engineer Interview

      Aug 4, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shield AI

      Interview

The process began with recruiter screening, followed by manager phone interview. They decided not to move forward with me so I stopped there, but from what I understand the next step after manager phone interview was an onsite interview. Starting from the recruiter screening it was all about the company's culture. I was asked multiple times what I liked about the company's culture. Not sure what was going on but it definitely felt uncomfortable because it was like I had to prove to them that I identify with their values when I didn't even know them. The manager spent more time making himself feel good than knowing the candidate. He "educated" me on how to write a good resume, and could not stop telling me how he did not regret not going to grad school and how well he was doing with his life. Then he implied that I was lucky to go to grad school because I had rich parents. Not sure where that assumption came from, or how any of that, if true, was his business. He also told me that they are looking for people who are "passionate" because they want people to work long hours to get things done. Overall it was a weird and uncomfortable experience.
