      Strategic Data Projects Analyst Interview

      May 24, 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Scholastic

      Interview

The first part of the interview was fine - a 30-minute call with the recruiter. She told me she liked my background and was going to set up a follow-up with the team. Around 3 weeks pass and I do not receive any communication. I reach out and provide my availability and a random interview invite is sent my way that is outside of any of the availability I send out. Again no communication for another 2 weeks until I reach out again since my interview was the next day. The recruiter replies by saying "team decided to pass on my candidacy" even though I had never met with anyone on the team. Without even confirming with anyone or checking anything she rejected me from the role. I respond telling her to strive for better communication. This email prompted her to look into things where she realizes I never met with the team and there was a scheduling error. I told her I was no longer interested due to her unprofessionalism. It is mind-boggling she rejected me right away without even looking into the situation. Very unprofessional and embarrassing for such an incredible organization with a great reputation.

      Interview

An extremely disappointing experience overall, seeing as this was my dream role at a company that I cared about. I had a first-round interview with a recruiter which went well. I was immediately given the team's availability for a next-round interview, then ghosted for two days by both the recruiter and the team that was supposed to reach out to me. After all of their suggested times had passed which I was available for, I got a response that the team was concerned my background didn't match and that they wanted more details. I spent a long time giving justifications for each of the areas they wanted more details about only to be told I wasn't being moved forward in the process. If you give a candidate interview times, I feel at the very least you should allow the candidate to interview at one of those times and explain any questions about their background. Extremely unprofessional and a waste of a candidate's time. This has negatively impacted my view of the company.
