I applied online. I interviewed at San Francisco Symphony
Interview
one screening round with 3rd party HR, then another 3 rounds with staff. Everything seemed like it was going along towards an offer until they suddenly stopped responding and ghosted me. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful of my time after investing in four rounds of interviews. Later, the person who beat me for the job called me to interview for a different position. She had no idea that I was the other candidate for her job. A complete unprofessional mess. I will never interview here again.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Typical industry questions about orchestra management and managerial style.
I applied online. I interviewed at San Francisco Symphony (San Francisco, CA) in May 2017
Interview
A telephone screen with HR followed relatively soon after by an in-person interview with the hiring manager and an underling. Both went well, and I was given nothing but favorable feedback by all parties. I was told a decision would be made by the end of May 2017.
When I hadn't heard anything by early June 2017, I followed up in writing. No response. Nothing. Crickets chirping. Disappointed by this, I came to this site to see if this is common. Having read the reviews now, I am realizing there are major, ongoing, systemic people problems at the SF Symphony. I still haven't heard back from anyone there, so I am assuming I never will. It is very rude, unprofessional, inconsiderate treatment, but I see now that I have probably dodged a bullet. I wish I hadn't wasted my time and effort in the first place, though.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
It was just the usual, predictable series of questions, both by HR and by the hiring manager. Nothing at all innovative, unusual, or particularly thought provoking.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at San Francisco Symphony (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
I was referred by a current employee. The interview process included a phone screening with the HR rep, plus 4 different in-person interviews with hiring manager and other members of the department.
