I recently went through the recruitment process for the SMB marketing role at Samsung/ CHERTSEY, and unfortunately, the experience was highly disappointing.
The process required me to submit in the last stage a high-level strategic ideas and a one-year marketing plan very early on, without any prior discussion about salary expectations or even clarity on what Samsung was offering for the role. After putting in significant time and effort, I received no feedback or follow-up, and the team essentially ghosted me. It has been more than 2 months and I saw the same role advertised again, which was extremely demoralising and concerning.
I share my experience and my marketing strategy presentation with some of my peers in marketing. Several of them commented that they usually charge clients thousands for the kind of strategy I provided for free.
This approach gives the impression that Samsung is more interested in collecting free ideas from candidates than genuinely engaging with their profiles. It also reflects a lack of respect for professionals’ time and expertise, especially surprising from a company of Samsung’s global stature.
I strongly hope Samsung reconsiders how it engages with candidates and puts processes in place that are fair, transparent, and respectful of applicants’ contributions. Also need more gender equality, the building is mainly dominated by males, which marks another red flag.
