They only hire intermittently, every few years as they county allows. Must turn in initial application, then get assigned a testing date, take test, get a certain score or higher, then you may be invited to fill out and submit supplementary application for background investigation. near the end of the investigation (if you pass that far), you will be scheduled for a background interview and lie detector test, after that (days-weeks) you may be contacted and scheduled for a psych evaluation, then a medical evaluation. After passing these, you will be contacted for a divisional interview. They are sometimes one or two to one, and sometimes done as a panel. If you pass *that* as well, you may be offered a job. The process takes anywhere from 3 months to 2 years, depending on the needs of the department and staffing ability to process your application.
