I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at SLB in Jan 2012
Interview
I applied to Schlumburger through spring career fair and got a call for REMS position after a week. The interview was a one on one face interview in the campus. The person who interviewed me was from a more programming background. The interview started with a discussion of the projects in the resume. Later on, the interviewer asked about my particular role in the projects and circumstances where I had made use of C /C++ extensively. The interviewer was very much interested about my undergrad thesis and spent majority of the time asking more about it. This continues for some 20 minutes. Then she gave me a programming question to do; it is based on reversing the linked list using recursive function. I kind of answered the logic but couldn't code it properly. Later she asked a simple logic puzzle; which was really really simple and then shook hands. The interview duration was 35 minutes. In short, I gave a clear picture of my background and how I could be useful for the company. The reason for the reject was that offering a position wouldn't help both the company and myself. I think, they required some Industrial or Mechanical Engineering background; where in I was an EE. But never mind; if you have an interest in management skills and are good at that you can give an honest try.
