      Field Engineer Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Colorado Springs, CO

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at SLB (Colorado Springs, CO) in Dec 2010

      Interview

I attended the info session at the university and turned in my resume. I got a call for a 1:1 interview for the next day. It was a mix of technical and personality questions. 8 days later I got a email saying I was selected for a 2nd interview. It was scheduled at a time when I had prior commitments and they were quite accommodating and put me with another set of interviewing candidates. The 2nd interview was basically a test of performance under pressure and sleep deprivation. The evening that we reached there, they had dinner and a detailed info session which lasted late into the night. Candidates were asked to prepare presentations in advance which were presented during this time. We also had a group exercise where they divided us into groups, gave us tape, paper and matchsticks and asked us to build a structure strong enough to sustain the weight of coke cans with the least material possible. The group with the structure supporting most number of cans won. Everyone was up till around 2 am in the night. The next morning we had to be ready by 7am to go on a site visit. We visited the oil rigs and the machinery shed which took up to 6 pm. After we were back we were handed out forms to complete and fill in. After that there was a 1:1 with the recruiter who was assessing the overall interview experience and the interest of the candidate in the job. I did not get the job. But overall they were prompt about replies.

      Interview

It was an on campus hiring. First they shortlisted based on CV. Then second round was group discussion where we were given abstract topics like "Half filled glass of water" and were asked to discuss. This was also an eliminatory round. The final round was more of a HR round, they asked behavioural questions, few puzzles (very easy) and general knowledge questions
