I had a quick phone meet and greet for the first interview. I was then invited to a zoom interview. The questions asked were pretty basic interview questions. I felt like I was leading the conversation most of the time. I was interviewed by the owner and he does not like to fully answer questions and was very vague when I pressed him to answer my questions. He told me that to accept the position he would send me an employment contract. I had an employment lawyer review the contract and at the lawyers insistence I asked for some items to be changed. He refused to make any changes to the contract. READ THE CONTRACT!!! It is extremely overreaching and ambiguous. One section of the Non-Compete states that you cannot take another position within the same industry or the industry of his clients for TWO years after the termination of the contract! That’s insane! This is the type of contract you would give a high profile CEO. His contract also claims right to any and all intellectual property. I would stay away from any job that wants to literally own your thoughts and ideas regardless of their application to the business. The contract also states that you will not network with any of his employees or customers. We all know how important references are to our careers!
