I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Rocket Lab (San Antonio, TX) in Jan 2022
Interview
Nice recruiter, easy programming test, nonsense response. The interview process was relatively easy, however the embedded software engineer is looking for book responses. I am glad I got rejected, I don't think I would've meshed well with this engineering culture.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Convert ADC readings - Convert counts to engineering units given a LUT.
Math problem in C++ - Most efficient O(n) math library this is a fair question.
Had a good first two rounds (HR and hiring manager chats). Was advised I moved onto the technical round. Had to follow up a few weeks later to even receive the task. Task was enormous, I still submitted it. Radio silence for two months and then a generic rejection.
I applied online. I interviewed at Rocket Lab in Nov 2025
Interview
The interview process was structured and professional, consisting of technical discussions and problem-solving questions relevant to software engineering. The interviewer was polite and knowledgeable. However, the feedback after rejection was limited, which made it difficult to understand the specific areas for improvement despite strong preparation.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked about designing and implementing a technical solution, focusing on problem-solving approach and practical experience rather than purely theoretical questions.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Rocket Lab (Long Beach, CA) in Nov 2025
Interview
First interview, recruiter, 2nd with the respective team, 3rd step test assessment (fairly easy), last step on-site interview. Interviews tend to be laid back and fairly chill some technicalities discussed in 2nd and 3rd interview but nothing trying to catch you.
