      Firmware Engineer Interview

      Apr 3, 2026
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Resideo

      Interview

Not super technical questions. Past experience mattered the most. Be able to explain what you've worked on in the past and how it was brought to be a product. Pretty simple.

      Firmware Engineer Interview

      Jun 29, 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Resideo (New York, NY) in Jun 2020

      Interview

Probably one of the worst interviewers I've experience in my life. I've interviewed with spaceX, Apple, and Facebook and none come to as bs as Resideo. For a position that's supposed to be a grad student's position. The interviewer was aggressive from the beginning and asked questions about topics one may not have studied in over three years. After asking some technical questions, he kept getting into more irrelevant things such as "give us an example where it is used", "how does it work", "when will you use it". Note this might sound easy because you are reading it but during a live interview, out of anything that could be throw at you, the most random questions were thrown at me.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1) What are design patterns? Why is it used? Where is it used? When will it be used. Give me an example. Tell me how that pattern works. Why does it work. Where will it be used. 2) What are interprocess communications. What is a pipeline. How does it work? Where is it used?
