I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at RBS Citizens (Malta, NY) in Sep 2012
Interview
I applied online for an entry-level position as an in-store banker. Initially I received a rejection email a week later, but then almost two months later someone called me to schedule an interview. Since I was unemployed, I agreed to go. The interview was in a supermarket, which I had to drive almost one hour to get to. When I got there (15 minutes early), I was told the guy was interviewing someone else and that I should just wait for 5 to 10 minutes in the supermarket aisle. I waited for 45 minutes.
Once the interview began it seemed to go alright. I was asked some weird questions and I was also asked to demonstrate my selling abilities by trying to sell the interviewer a pen. The whole thing lasted maybe 30 minutes. After that I left, and I never anything back from the bank. Not even a rejection letter or email.
Additionally, I would like to add that the in-store position is a sales position. The interviewer stressed this throughout the interview, and anyone who takes this position will be expected to sell.
