      Junior Software Engineer Interview

      Jun 17, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at R3 (London, England) in May 2019

      Interview

Brief phone interview asking about my background, with a coding test to take home. The coding test was to take a file and add comments to it, acting as if I was performing a code-review and to provide feedback on the code that was written. I completed the task to the best of my ability, however the feedback I got was that my comments were "off-base". When I asked for some specific cases of where I did not perform to their expectations, they refused to provide any further feedback. I don't understand how someone is meant to improve if they don't know where they went wrong, it would be a nice courtesy to inform your candidates of things missed.
