      Big Data Graduate Role Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Quantexa (London, England) in Jan 2023

      Interview

Fantastic - Grace was my point of contact and she was amazing, always on hand to answer any questions I had. After the initial phone call with her I was given a coding assessment which was difficult as it was in a language I had not come across before. I was given it to do in the middle of important revision and Grace was so supportive and offered to extend the deadline. I then had a final interview with three software engineers in a relaxed environment which made me feel so comfortable and it was therefore easier to engage. I then was actually offered to move to a different grad scheme as they thought I would be more suited in that field which really made me feel like they had my best interests in mind which was so refreshing for a company. I then chatted to a woman who had gone through the programme to answer any questions I had and after I was offered the role! Overall the interview process was seamless and I would like to say thank you to Grace who helped me along the whole way.

      Interview

I can confidently say the Interview process at Quantexa for their Big Data Graduate Programme was one of the most professional and memorable experiences I've had. From the very first interaction, Ashton (from the Talent Acquisition team) was incredibly helpful, kind, and thorough. She clarified all my questions regarding the role, the pay, location, and future interview structure, making me feel well-prepared and confident throughout the process. The interview process itself was very structured and gave me a great insight into the company culture and expectations: Initial Call: A friendly and informative conversation where Ashton covered my experience, background, and current plans. This set the tone for the rest of the process. Coding Assignment: I received clear instructions for a week-long coding task in Scala. The assignment was challenging but well-designed, allowing me to demonstrate my technical skills. I received positive feedback on my submission, which gave me confidence moving forward. Code Review & Technical Interview: Two senior engineers reviewed my code with me, offering constructive feedback and acknowledging my work. They were approachable, encouraging, and guided me through areas for improvement while recognizing my strengths. Presentation & Business Problem Discussion: I presented a project I had worked on previously, followed by a collaborative session solving a business problem. This part really showcased Quantexa's emphasis on teamwork and innovative thinking. Offer Call: Ashton called me to offer the role, and I happily accepted. The excitement and support shown during this final step reflected the company’s people-first culture. Throughout the process, I felt supported, respected, and inspired. I also learned a lot—both about technical problem-solving and the collaborative spirit at Quantexa. The entire experience reinforced my excitement to join this innovative and inclusive team. I highly recommend applying to Quantexa if you’re passionate about big data and want to work in a company that truly values its employees.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Quantexa (London, England) in Dec 2022

      Interview

The interview process consists of four sections that can be split into: -Applying online -Phone discussion -Coding assignment -Final interview In the initial stage of applying online, the process is quite simple. They ask a few questions and request to see your CV. The next stage is the phone discussion which is very conversational, and you are asked various questions. This could include what you already know about the company and why you wish to join Quantexa. This is not a long call, and it will take a maximum of 30 minutes. My phone discussion was with Grace, she was very friendly and was more than happy to answer any questions I may have regarding the process. The next stage is a coding assignment. They provide you with a task based on Scala language, and you have about a week to complete it. As someone that had not used Scala before this was a big worry for me. But they do provide resources to help you get started in learning the language. I really enjoyed this format compared to the usual one hour to complete the task, as it allowed me time to work on the actual task and put my best effort in, rather than having to rush it to ensure I finish it in time. The final stage is the final interview. In this interview, I had to present a project that I had accomplished and discuss my answer to the previous coding assignment. We also went through my CV where they ask questions about my experiences. Finally, I had to complete a task that they had prepared for me. I found the final interview very enjoyable, and I was able to ask questions to those currently working in the department.
