      Audience Engagement Reporter Interview

      Jun 9, 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at ProPublica

      Interview

The screening interview consisted of the hiring manager asking incredibly vague questions and expecting the interviewee to read her mind. For example, one question was to guess exactly what the process for how to create a project plan without any direction. I guess they are looking for people who thrive in organizational chaos and can read minds and follow expectations without clarity or direction. It's consistent with the reports on here and elsewhere about how confusing working at this organization is.

      Question 1

If a team asks you to help with a project and gives you no information on how to get started, what would you do?
