Interview
I walked into my local Marie Callender's restaurant and asked to introduce myself to the manager. I asked her if they were hiring and gave her my resume, then sent a follow-up thank you note for her time. Three weeks later she called me for an interview, which was more of a chat with a job offer attached. She said that she had wanted me there when I walked in, but they didn't have a position available at that time, so she called me as soon as a host left. She did also say that the thank-you note set me apart, so I would recommend sending one to the manager you talk with.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery (Orange City, FL)
Interview
It was an open interview but the interviewer rarely asked any questions. Basically he just said "you're not gonna have a social life if you work here." It just wasn't a great experience.
