I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Penguin Random House in Sep 2021
Interview
Extremely poor communication and lack of organization at every stage. Applied in mid-September and didn’t hear from a recruiter until two weeks later, via a form response to schedule a phone screen. Interviewing with recruiter and both hiring managers took two more weeks. I then sent in an edit test and the position was abruptly put on hold a few days later. After another full month with no update, I received a form rejection email from HR. I have never had to follow up this much during an interview process, only to receive so little information of any kind. Not just lack of feedback, but lack of transparency in general. I did not feel treated with respect as a candidate during this process. Although I was originally quite interested in the role (and my experience was a strong fit) I don’t think I would have accepted an offer after this.
