      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Pegasystems

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Pegasystems in Apr 2021

      Interview

The position is for technical support and in the listing it says experience in Java, C#, or Python required. I have experience with Python, not as a Python professional developer, but I have working projects and I run some simple scripts at my current position. In any case, based on this wording, I thought that would be enough to proceed in a TSE position which I have 3+ years experience in and plenty of strong references. The initial call went well and the interviewer said they were interested in possibly a next step and they would get back with me. Java, Python, C# were not discussed at all (this is important, so please read on). A few days later, I received an email from these this initial interviewer who said she spoke with her HR supervisor and they explained that I would need programming experience. I wrote them back and explained how I run some Python scripts and I can share projects. They wrote back again saying that I would need Java or C# only and it would have to be professional level experience. All of this was very strange and contrary to their job listing, our first conversation, and also the role of a TSE. Please fix your job listing -remove Python as a possibility -explain that years of professional Java or C# programming are needed -change the job title to something that more aptly describes the position. The starting pay of 70k now makes more sense. It would be a good start for a TSE, but nothing to brag about for an experienced Java programmer. I would be wary of this company and their mixed messages from HR. I don't mind being rejected from any position, but I dislike having my time wasted due to poor communication. The situation was overall very strange.

      Question 1

What do you do in your current position? (The other questions were similarly soft and expected.)

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your interview experience. I would first like to apologize that you felt your time was taken advantage of and that you received poor communication around the role and the experience the team was looking for. This is not the standard with which we treat any candidates as we like to be as transparent as possible. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention so I can look to clarify any confusion around the details of the requisition. -Scott, Senior Talent Attraction Business Leader
