      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Oportun in Feb 2024

      Interview

It was a long interview process and took around 2 weeks of time. The Oportun recruiter reached out to me on phone as I have applied for this job over LinkedIn. There were 2 interview levels: L1 & L2. L1 level consists of only on technical round and it was a elimination round. Then after L1, L2 happened. In L2 there were three rounds, Coding, System Design and Techno managerial. L2 rounds were not elimination rounds. Then they took one week of time to have discussion among all the interview panels and shared the result to me. Lastly, the HR discussion happened. And they directly shared there numbers to me the package and salary structure. They also mentioned that they offer irrespective of your current package. They just matched your salary with their existing employee. And believe me the salary is really good and its all fixed.

Leetcode Medium questions on merge intervals. - Few ReactJs question as I have applied for Full stack role. L2 Rounds:- L2 A round: - Asked some basic java programs on Strings and Arrays. And the interviewer spent more time on discussion all the solutions. He asked around 3 coding question. All easy. L2 B round: It was System Design round. - Great interview, they asked me all kind of questions like security, Loadbalancers, Oauth implementation and many more. - Basically it was more like open ended interview. No correct or wrong answers. He just wanted to check my knowledge on different components of any System. L2 C round: This was general discussion round with Director whom I will be reporting after joining. It was a fun round. No technical questions asked. Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Jun 29, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Oportun

      Interview

First contact was a quick chat with a manager that was very polite. He gave details about the company and what is expected for the offered position. Second interview was with an architect that arrived 10 minutes late. By the questions he asked me it seemed that he wasn't aware about what the position was, nor did he looked at my resume. Sometimes he would propose outdated practices as an alternative to my answers, but when I pointed out its mistakes he seemed quite ok with it. The third interviewed was with a senior engineer who also didn't seem to have looked at my resumé or what the position was. He asked me very basic questions about data structures and design patterns, and I was interrupted multiple times during my expositions. Whenever I tried to elaborate a scenario (even to more complex ones) or address possible problems with it (and how to solve them), he would interrupt me saying that was not what he asked. This became worse and worse along the interview to the point that it became fully confrontational. Whatever I answered, he would interrupt me and show another idea, not letting me finish my original answer, nor address his solution. They scheduled a fourth interview, but for the bad experience with the previous one, I politely declined.
