      Sales Interview

      Feb 4, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Birmingham, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at OneAdvanced (Birmingham, England) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Once you pass the relatively easy online tests, you are invited to an assessment day which consists; of a group presentation, elevator pitch and a test (same as the one you completed online). Positive; The recruitment team were great. They were young which helped and very approachable. Negatives; group assessor didn't seem in the best of moods and was talking to her co worker during the task. She failed to realise that I involved the quietest member of the group, a skill that they said I did not demonstrate in the group task. This was disappointing as the group task was the basis of me not getting the job and I believe if I had a different assessor the outcome would have been different. Also the tests you complete whilst at the assessment centre require you not to use a calculator a bit absurd as the answer can be in decimals, in which case they tell you take an educated guess (which I found strange as the answer for instance could be 23.5% and other options were 25%) However the "pass" level didn't seem to be high so not much to worry about. Also the set up for the tests was not great as everyone started at different times (they asked to start when you were ready). The problem this created was that once people had finished they would become distracting to other people who were still taking the test.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The interview is laid back and the interviewer makes you feel at ease, the fact they get to know everyone during the day helps make you more comfortable during the interview. They generally start the interview asking you about yourself and go from there. A common question they ask; what are your weaknesses ?

      Anonymous interview candidate
Slough, Berkshire, South East England, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at OneAdvanced (Slough, Berkshire, South East England, England) in Jan 2017

      Interview

Like others - you do a test and the have a Skype interview and do the test again because they don't trust you. On arrival I sat in reception of a fantastic building in brilliant grounds and watched their staff plod past... I have seen jollier and more enthusiastic people at funerals - this is a glum, dying place I thought. On to the interview, it was soulless and the manager liked to hear his own voice and did not like be questioned (this was for a sales role remember).

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at OneAdvanced (Derby, England) in Jun 2016

      Interview

Poor. Boring. Standard interview process. Would not recommend this company. Managers lacking experience and no HR present during the interview. Heard bad things before applying and these were confirmed. Better jobs elsewhere also no benefits package

I am very sorry to hear you haven’t had a good experience applying to Advanced but thank you for sharing your feedback as we are always looking to improve. Your experience does surprise me as it seems to be very different from our desired process as at Advanced we have a dedicated internal recruitment team (HR) who are the first point of contact once you have applied online to talk to you about the company and the role along with organising for you to complete an online assessment. At this point the Talent Acquisition team will come back to you and discuss whether we would be looking to progress your application further and view to conducting an interview if it is positive. Finally you would then meet a hiring manager to do a presentation if required. Clearly this seems greatly different from your experience and I would be extremely keen to find out more about your as there seems to be a lot we can learn from it and we are extremely keen to give all candidates, successful or not, a good experience applying to Advanced as we look to bring in brilliant, driven sales professionals to help us grow and make connections with future customers.
