      Policy Advisor Interview

      Dec 14, 2023
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Ofcom

      Interview

Fairly straightforward, gave two weeks to prep a task and present during the interview. Rest of the interview focused on skills based questions, skills already highlighted in the job descriptino and candidate pack. The panel was very nice and easy to talk to, gave good feedback after the interview.

      Policy Advisor Interview

      Nov 29, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Ofcom in Nov 2022

      Interview

(spectrum division) Screening happened the day after the closing of the ad, was sent a task involving a 1000 word policy recommendation to write a week before the interview. The interview itself was quite difficult, I was pushed on any aspect of the 1000 word essay that I didn't go deep into, including technical ones which I didn't expect to have to know. That being said, the atmosphere was positive and I was given some guidance to steer my answer in the right direction. I was rewarded for explaining my reasoning out loud.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How, as OFCOM, can we ensure that this measure you suggest will necessarily lead to private actors taking the action we desire? (worded more specifically to relate to the written task) Describe a situation where you had to provide assistance to a colleague from another team. How did you measure the impact of your written publication? How did you organise yourself in order to produce consistent work towards a deadline?
