Interview process
I went through more than five rounds of interviews for a role at Notion, and I can honestly say it was one of the most thorough and well-organised processes I've experienced. Each stage had a clear purpose and was thoughtfully structured.
What stood out
Every single person I interacted with was warm, genuine, and clearly passionate about what they do at Notion. The recruiting team was incredibly communicative throughout — I always knew what to expect next and never felt left in the dark. The questions were thoughtful and actually gave me the chance to showcase my experience in a meaningful way.
A little extra touch
I also received a thoughtful gift during the process, which was a lovely and unexpected gesture. It really showed how much Notion cares about the candidate experience — not just as a formality, but as a reflection of their culture. If you're lucky enough to get an interview here, embrace it. Highly recommended.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions covered a wide range of topics — from my professional background and hands-on experience, to the way I currently work and collaborate with teams. I was also asked about how I learn new things, how I teach and enable others, and how I both give and receive feedback. There was even a practical element where I had to prepare and walk through a demo, which gave me the chance to show my approach in a real-world context. It never felt like a standard Q&A — more like a genuine conversation designed to understand not just what you've done, but who you are and how you think.
The process consisted of a recruiter phone screen, followed by hiring manager interview, 5 interviews with stakeholders, and a case study panel presentation. The recruiter was very transparent and helpful throughout - I knew generally what to expect at each stage. Instead of behavioral questions, interviewers tended to ask more thoughtful applied questions and genuinely seemed to want to get to know me better. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

Question 1
Questions often focused on how I would address a specific challenge they were facing - for example, a specific tension on a team or opportunity for manager enablement.

Interview
I had a genuinely great interview experience with Notion. Compared to a competitor I interviewed with around the same time, the Notion team was far more personable, welcoming, and authentic—it really stood out. Every conversation felt thoughtful and human, not overly scripted or transactional.
It honestly made walking away from the opportunity incredibly difficult. The only reason I didn’t move forward was due to the in-office requirement. If remote work had been an option, I’d be working at Notion in a heartbeat. The team, culture, and mission all left a lasting impression.
