I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Northern Trains (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) in Mar 2022
Interview
First an individual interview and then you have a group interview on the same day, both in person. They ask you stuff like tell me about the conductor role, tell me what you know about Northern as a company, and various STAR questions. Then you have a group interview, where they ask you to come up with ideas and choose which one to present as a group.

Interview
Initial phone interview, followed by invitation to assessment centre.
Assessment centre consisted of two group activities where managers and CSCs assess your ability to work in a group. They are not looking for correct answers, they want to know how you work together, contribute, and take ownership of tasks.

I interviewed at Northern Trains (Liverpool, England)
Interview
Telephone interview based on knowledge of company.
Sifted due to not meeting 'specific competencies'.
This was not a competency-based interview, nor was it advertised as such.
Emaile advised to that it would cover knowledge of the role, company and reasons for applying. All of this was covered in detail and I was informed that the next step was a competency-based interview.
