I applied online. I interviewed at Murphy's Magic Supplies
Interview
My first interview was a phone screen with the HR Manager, who was incredibly fun, engaging, and easy to talk to. Although the call was scheduled for just 30 minutes, we ended up speaking for 45 because the conversation flowed so naturally. Shortly after, I was invited for a second, onsite interview.
During the onsite visit, I met with both the HR Manager and the company owner. They were welcoming and asked thoughtful, insightful questions. What stood out most to me was their transparency, they openly acknowledged that the department I was interviewing for lacked structure and explained what they hoped to improve. I had never interviewed with a company so candid about its challenges, and I really appreciated that level of honesty.
While I ultimately wasn’t selected for the role, I had a very positive experience and walked away with a lot of respect for their process and people.

Interview
Very formal, cold initial HR interview. She referred to me as the candidate. It's clear on my resume where I am located & that I'm looking for hybrid/remote, however when I asked if they are open to remote said it is on job description it's in the office, good luck on your search and cut the interview off.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Murphy's Magic Supplies (Rancho Cordova, CA) in Nov 2018
Interview
A member of the company's Video Production Team reached out to me when they posted a job because they had my info on file and liked my work. I came in and sat down for a 2 hour interview. I was told a decision would be made in 2 weeks. The person interviewing me really liked my work but wanted to see a sample that was similar to their style, marketing a product. He even gave me a product from their studio and asked me to put something together to improve my chances.
After I did this extra suggested assignment and submitted it within 1 week, matching the style of the companies work, I received no acknowledgment. When I checked back in to see if I was still a candidate, I got no response back.
They may have gone with someone more qualified or who was a better fit, but I am greatly disappointed with the lack of professionalism and courtesy after I spent 2 hour and an extra time to show my interest in the position.
