I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Moody's (New York, NY) in Jan 2022
Interview
The first interview was with the recruiter. It wasn't bad because they ask questions about yourself which I liked. After the interview, they gave you an online hacker rank assessment which was confusing at first, but takes some time re-reading to understand the question.
The second interview was with the Principal Engineer. It was more of a trivia type interview where you'll get thrown questions that you could potentially not run into yet into your career, but are expected to now for a non-senior role. They don't care if you're willing to learn these questions on the job, but rather want to make sure you memorized these answers beforehand without letting you know what kind of questions are going to be on the interview.
After not getting an offer, I attempted to get feedback from the recruiter, but have been ghosted ever since asking that. I would not recommend applying to this company if this is how they treat their applicants.
Overall, the experience was negative and the process could take around 3-4 weeks to finish, which is unnecessarily long.

Roughly 2 rounds of interviews. One with only one person and the other with a group.
It looks like they do batch interviews. The interview is pretty straightforward and standard
I applied online. I interviewed at Moody's in Dec 2024
Interview
I interviewed for a Software Engineer position, but was informed during the process that the role was too junior for my level of experience. I was encouraged to apply for a more senior position instead. To ensure the new role was appropriate, I confirmed with the recruiter twice that it aligned with my experience and was assured both times that it did.
I proceeded to interview for the senior position, including completing a 90-minute coding exercise. After several days of following up for feedback, I was told they were looking for someone even more senior.
Being told I was simultaneously too junior for one role and too senior for another was a confusing and frustrating experience. It raised questions about Moody's clarity around job requirements and internal communication. Ultimately, this process felt like a preventable waste of time and effort, as clearer expectations could have been communicated earlier.

Question 1
Coding question around building a REST API. I won't go into the details for obvious reasons, but I would say that this would be better as a take home exercise instead of a live API that needs to make call over the Internet.
