I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MongoDB in Feb 2023
Interview
Had one call with recruiter, one call with hiring manager, completed assessment, and scheduled interview with hiring manager. Conversations had been going well up until the assessment that I didn't "pass." The assessment was a mix of personality assessment, vocab skills, and math -- felt like I was taking the SATs again. Seems like an outdated, arbitrary way of assessing the candidacy of a candidate. I get the sense that there's not much diversity of thought or background at MongoDB.
Process is 7 steps. It is very challenging and time intensive but very rewarding when you get accepted. The communication throughout was very professional and I knew what each step had in store for me.
I applied online. I interviewed at MongoDB (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2026
Interview
Went through 6 differen't interviews and then spent 30 hours on the challenge, only to not get the offer on a technicality. In my opinion the process isn't best structured to get the right people.
