After the recruiter reached out they set me up the next day for an interview with the CEO/Founder. The interview was chaotic and he ultimately did all the talking and seemingly only showed interest in talking about how great he thinks his products are. He was not receptive to any thoughts, words, or opinions that did not fully comply with his preconceived notion of the “right” marketing strategies and tactics even though he repeatedly said he needed an expert. He also spoken poorly of current and former employees except for his son- whom he said was a genius and built an amazing marketing strategy but left the country…..
He stated he was very interested in continuing and scheduled a 2nd interview the next day but cancelled it abruptly when he emailed me to ask about budgets and marketing spends and he failed to understand how marketing spend works within a complex global brand like the one I currently work.
Honestly, the red flags were a vibrant red and in my opinion he ultimately wants a manager level performance marketer who will only execute his ideas. This is the epitome of a company where the they want the idea of a marketing executive but will not ever succeed with that position or in positive brand growth until there are drastic changes to their current executive team. Just wildly unprofessional.
