Both 1st and 2nd stage interviews were online. The interview process was made clear in advance. In both I had a chance to talk about my background, ask questions and say why I want to become a patent attorney.
1st stage: with a partner and a senior associate. I was given a device patent to study ahead of the interview, and asked to prepare a 5min presentation on an invention. During the interview, I was asked about the technical aspects of my degree project and we spent some time talking about the patent I was sent. The interviewers seemed intimidating to begin with, but were very nice and helped me get to the answers throughout.
2nd stage was with two Partners and before the interview I was mailed a device. I was shown a patent sketch of a mouse and was asked to explain how it is novel and an improvement on the joystick. For the mailed device, I was asked to talk about its features and what I think it did, in quite a bit of technical detail.
