      Project Manager Interview

      Jan 28, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Mathematica

      Interview

I applied for the position and they did not get back to me for 8 months, they then brought me in for a 5 hour interview (which seemed a bit excessive). I got the job offer and turned it down because it wasn’t my type of company culture. Everyone was nice but it felt unfair to wait 8 months after applying and then bringing in college students for full day interviews.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They provided a case study that included graphs and asked what my conclusion from the data was
      Answer question
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Mathematica (New York, NY)

      Interview

Had an initial interview with the HR, then was told to expect to hear back within the next week, and that they would definitely keep me in the loop whether or not they decided to move forward with me. I contacted them two weeks later after not hearing back to ask for an update, they didn't respond which was very unprofessional in my opinion.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

the questions were general and broad, examples below: - overall PM experience - whether or not I had any PM certification - whether or not I worked with external stakeholders - salary expectations

      Project Manager Interview

      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Mathematica (Washington, DC) in Sep 2019

      Interview

It's not that the interview was hard, exactly. What WAS hard is that it was a series of many mini-interviews, each 20-30 min long. By the time we share pleasantries, a bit about their projects, and the usual basic questions, there was scant time for me to actually discuss my past experience and qualifications. And this happened over and over. Sometimes I tried to shoe-horn myself in there, but it was a challenging interview format to really build raport or share one's narrative beyond a sounds byte or two. It was a bummer, and it was hours-long, including lunch.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Lot of superficial questions, over and over, with not enough time/priority placed on questions that dig deeper.
