      Senior Program Manager Interview

      May 4, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Parsippany, NJ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Marotta Controls (Parsippany, NJ) in Apr 2022

      Interview

It was a 2 hour process with 4 separate 30 minute interviews. I went in skeptical and guarded seeking knowledge about the structure and expectations. The first 3 persons / groups went great and made me regret my initial concern. This company seemed great. The last brought it down. The last interviewer came in with an agenda. I had out of industry experience and that person was going to fix that. It became combative unfortunately and that person forgot it was a two way street. Experience does bring strength. I established my enthusiasm for a new opportunity and my capability. This interviewer was looking for a specific candidate prior to the interview. I was not that person. I was seeking a new opportunity to utilize my strengths and growth desire and and didn't need a new job. This is their choice but may overlook very good candidates. This is their choice of course.

      Question 1

While most were relevant experience questions which were fine. One interviewer was was seeing was looking for specific answers to general questions and changed the topic before answers could be provided fully. It ended with ......so what is your perfect job.

      Application

I interviewed at Marotta Controls (District Heights, MD) in Apr 2017

      Interview

Run Away! This was the most ridiculous process I've ever been through. Upon submitting an application I was immediately asked for copies of college transcripts and a writing example. And then had to complete a survey (100 question personality profile). Then, a phone interview that started with a quiz regarding earned value principles (yes, a quiz). Then an in-person interview that included a mechanical aptitude test (for someone with a mechanical engineering degree). During the interview, I was left to pace about the conference room for over an hour because people had internal meetings to attend. Then, then they required another on-line leadership style assessment. The whole process was quite demeaning.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

If snow falls on a sheep and a cow, which one will it melt from faster? Yes, for someone with an engineering degree and an MBA this is the nonsense they had me deal with on the 30-minute timed mechanical aptitude test.
