Was contacted via email for a phone interview to take place either Saturday or Sunday (weird... this should have been my first red flag.) The process started with a pretty standard phone interview with Geoff -- he asked your basic interview questions (strengths, weaknesses, goals) and sounded completely unenthused the whole time. The next day, I confirmed my interest in the role via email, and was asked to send over my transcript and a writing sample.
Heard nothing for 3 weeks. Followed up. Was asked again(!) to send over my transcript and a writing sample, now with 3 references.
Then... I was ghosted. Never heard anything back either way, and think it's extremely unprofessional to have to send over 3 references only to never get any sort of follow up.
The reviews are right. Don't try to overlook them. Seriously, I'd recommend not interviewing/working here.

Sent my application in online. They responded in the same day and brought me in for an interview. I interviewed with serval people, first the receptionist, then a couple of legal assistants, then an attorney. After that I was called back for a working interview the entire process was extremely disorganized. I was told that I didn't have to do a working interview then I was told I did. I ended up going in three times for the working interview. They asked me to work on an MSJ they were looking to file. I had no idea what I was doing. Other legal assistants told me they had no idea what I was doing either. They let me know that they only did witness calls during their working interview. Overall the process started out good but turned into an awful mess.

Interview
Unless you're a really naive job seeker, don't apply to Lyon Law.
Submitted an online application through my university. Their post was weird-they put IN ALL CAPS that they demand above a 3.5 GPA from a high tier school and will expedite applications for 3.7+ GPA from a top tier school.
Received an email a week later for a phone screen with a legal assistant. Phone screen was quite terse-a lot of questions about whether I'd been on academic probation, terminated from a job, criminal conviction, etc. It was basically like getting grilled rather than getting to know you. Next was a later phone screen with the firm's CEO.
I received an offer about two weeks later. The email containing the offer was extremely brief. It simply said I was being offered a full-time legal assistant job at a certain hourly wage. It was pretty low. They gave me a little less than a week to decide. I asked them for an extension on time and inquired about job benefits. Unlike many reputable employers, they did not provide any written details about job benefits like healthcare or paid leave.
I also inquired about negotiating compensation. My offer was immediately rescinded on the grounds that I wasn't showing enough enthusiasm for the job.
This firm shows questionable tactics regarding hiring, which is sad given that the firm is an employment litigation law firm itself. The firm requires top notch candidates and then treats them very poorly and cheaply once it has them. If you're one of those candidates, you deserve much better.
