      Personal Insurance Account Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Lykes Insurance (Cape Coral, FL) in Jul 2018

      Interview

I applied online and was contacted by HR for a quick phone interview which was followed up with an in-person interview at the local branch. After completing my phone interview I was asked by their HR person to get back to her with some times that would work on two specific days. I did that and was told that the time I chose was the day before a holiday so they would be closing early and that I would have to choose another time. I replied back with another time and then was told on that day that the lady interviewing me was sick and would have to reschedule. Time was rescheduled. On the day of the interview, I show up to their local branch to find the door to the office locked with no call box during office hours. After walking around the building twice to see if there were any other doors open and finding there were not, I stood at the front door for 5 minutes and then proceeded to call the person I was interviewing with only to get her voice mail. I waited for approximately 5 more minutes and then a receptionist came down and let me in. She apologized and said that she could see me on their cameras and did not realize that the door was locked. The interview was based primarily on my resume. After explaining why I was leaving my current position it was twisted around to make me try and defend why I did not try and do better to stay in that position. Fifteen minutes into the interview the HR person took a cell phone call and excused herself from our meeting space. After waiting 10 minutes she came back and said that she had to take the call because someone else left the company and she had to freeze their access to the system immediately. After that comment she asked if I had anything else to ask or say to her and then told me she would let me know. She did not walk me out and left me to find my way to the front desk. Once at the front desk I was going to take the elevator down to the front entry door and the receptionist told me that if I planned on doing that I needed to pay attention to the directions to let myself out otherwise I could go down the stairs. Never heard back from them, but was for the best. This definitely was not a good fit for more reasons than one.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why are you leaving your current position? What could you have done to make your situation better there and influence management and other employees in higher positions to be more motivated to do their jobs?
