      Junior Software Engineer Interview

      Sep 6, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Ciudad de Mexico
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Linio (Ciudad de Mexico) in Jul 2018

      Interview

I applied to linio as a junior software engineer for LinioPay early on July/2018. HR contacted me by the end of the month. We set up an HR call in which we discussed the role, my experience, etc. Then the recruiter set up a challenge that I had to solve in 5 days. They told me I could solve in any programming language but they love PHP so I decided to solve it in PHP and using many PHP libraries (which I never used before, had to do research). This helped me boost my application among other candidates. Few days later, the recruiter contacted me with really positive feedback and they wanted to set an on-site interview with the team. During the interview, there was the Director of LinioPay and the Lead Dev. They started asking mostly technical questions that were appropriate for a junior level. Make sure you show them that you really want the job and you could be a good fit for their team. Also, make sure that you are able passionate about technologies and you can pick up any challenge that comes along. The questions were about simple design pattern than any web-dev framework could have, sessions, cookies, javascript, ajax. After 2 days HR contacted me that they wanted to follow up on the process, and asked for 4 references (2 peers and 2 managers, if possible). After that, the next day they extended me an offer to join the team and I accepted it =).

      Question 1

The challenge was split into 2 parts. The first part was easy, solving a simple coding exercise. The second part consisted on implementing unit test for your code.
