      Studio Team Member Interview

      Jun 27, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Columbus, OH
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lifetouch (Columbus, OH) in Jun 2016

      Interview

First I had a quick phone screening so they could make sure I was interested in the position and if I qualified. I came in for an in person interview where I met the team and saw the studio. The manager and staff didn't seem too professional (like they didn't know what they were doing) but they were nice and friendly. They had me fill out a ton of information. The interview was a relatively impersonal, 15 minute talk. They cared only about my qualifications and not about me. They didn't ask any difficult or pressing questions. Just "can you do this?" And "can you do that?" They asked for my portfolio and they were impressed (make sure you have family studio work in there). Then they told me the hours and salary. Part time, mostly weekends, and 8-10 dollars an hour. I got an offer from them for $9.50/hour with no benefits and I was extremely disappointed and turned off from the position. As someone with a photo degree trying to make a living, that's ridiculous. Life touch is notorious for underpaying staff from what I've heard. I guess they're just looking for high school/college kids who need some extra money. The whole experience was fine, I just felt relatively undervalued. They didn't get to know me and they couldn't offer me close to a livable salary. The people were very nice though.

      Interview

Traditional one-on-one interview with studio manager asking questions about the submitted resume and relevant work experience. If selected, you undergo a background check and drug test. If you pass both, you move onto a week of training. At the end of the training, you are either selected for hire or let go.
