Discouraging Experience in the Hiring Process
My application experience with Leonardo was both disappointing and eye-opening. Despite having the necessary qualifications and experience for the position, my application process seemed to be dismissed swiftly, which leads me to believe that the reason was my non-British name. I submitted my application and, unlike other processes where there is at least an acknowledgment or a phone interview, in this case, my application appeared to be completely ignored. I received no communication or feedback, which is in stark contrast to other experiences where my name was not a factor. I am concerned that the culture at Leonardo may be influenced by subconscious biases that affect their selection process. It is crucial that companies recognize and address these biases to ensure equity and inclusion in the workplace. I hope my comment serves as a call for reflection and change within the organization.
