Initially I sent an application through indeed. I also took the initiative of reaching out to the owner (Ryan Burton) through LinkedIn to introduce myself. Maybe a day or two later I receive a rejection email. It wasn’t a big deal and I moved on. About a week later Ryan reaches out to me through LinkedIn asking to do a compatibility interview. I meet with him and we talk. It ends with him giving me a chance to write a sample piece to show what I can do. One of his employees would be in charge of looking it over and getting back to me. I finish up the sample and finish up in two days. The employees let’s me know they would “get in touch with me soon.” A week goes by. While on a trip to Seattle I reach back out asking for an update. I’m told that Ryan has been feeling under the weather and hasn’t had a chance to review my sample. When I do my homework on companies I review everything. So it was odd hearing this news when the owner recently made a post about coming from a successful trip. Another week goes by and I decided to reach out to Ryan once more on LinkedIn. I never got a response back. I can appreciate rejection. It comes with the territory but a company’s habit of ghosting people who were enthusiastic about a job shows a lack of professionalism on their part. Even another standard rejection email would have been fine. For context this happened in February 2022. It’s been eight months.
