I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) in Sep 2021
Interview
Interview process was atrocious. I attended a first round interview and I could tell the interviewer made no effort preparing for it. It should be two way. They did not follow a structured process and only asked me two or three vague questions within the entire interview, on introducing myself and my experience which did not enable me to sell myself against the role description.
Their attitude was rather conceited and seemed as if they did not want to be there. For whatever reason, it was clear that they had already judged that I was not what they are looking for. It was not a proper interview. Nothing specific from my CV was asked about. The role was explained to me in the interview, which lined up with my experience and capability so I was interested. But they were setting me up to fail and gave me no opportunity to dive into my prior experiences with proper competency or behavioural questions at all.
They also made a remark along the lines of 'but it doesn't look like you've specifically done [role title], have you?' and the wording of that was a complete red flag. Role titles are arbitrary. It was very belittling then having to justify myself because they clearly hadn't read my CV; and knowing it was going in one ear and out the other.
I withdrew my application. I would not want to work in that team.
