      Summer Teaching Fellow Interview

      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Interview

The interview process was rigorous and the questions expect you to be able to delve into your educational and moral views. However, the process is less about you experience and more about who you are as a person and how that will be conveyed to the students and express itself in the classroom.

      Question 1

Is any child a bad child?

      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Kids Science Labs in Mar 2021

      Interview

There was an initial 30 minute video interview with the CEO that left no time for questions at the end. About two weeks later, I was asked to come to one of their Chicago locations for a group interview/meet & greet. I thought this was odd, as I would've had to travel from out-of-state (at college) to Chicago during a pandemic. Also, the invitation for this in-person meeting came by way of phone call at 8pm (clearly not business hours). When I explained I wouldn't be able to attend anything in-person, they were courteous and agreed to another virtual meeting. However, I ended up taking a position elsewhere before this interview could be scheduled, so I can't speak to that experience.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

He gave me a list of three words I had to incorporate into a three-minute story geared towards five-year-olds, with ten seconds to prepare.

      Question 2

He had an object out of view and I had 10 questions to figure out what it was.

      Question 3

If you were the governor and had unlimited money, what would you do to improve the state of education in Illinois?
