      Technical Sales Representative Interview

      Nov 23, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Keyence in Nov 2021

      Interview

A pretty in-depth and structured interview process from start to finish. Started off with a virtual information session with about 25 other applicants and a recruiter answering questions. Next, they sent everyone to a video interview and aptitude test. The video interview consisted of basic sales interview questions and recording yourself answering them. Personally, I was not a huge fan of this as I feel I am better when talking to someone rather than recording myself. After this, had a quick phone call with a recruiter about location preferences, and I was informed a few days later I would be going onto Career Day and a final interview/role play. About a week before Career Day, they sent us an information packet and a brochure of one of their products (FD-Q Series Flow Sensor) to study to do a sales role play. Career day consisted of a company presentation over Teams around 8:30 am that morning, and then your individual time slot for a 30 min role play and 30 min final interview. They encouraged everyone throughout by saying we were in the top 5% of all applicants just to make it to career day. A week after, I received a rejection email. I thought I interviewed well, but I guess they were looking for something else. I encourage anyone to at least go through the career day if you get an invitation, the role play was something I have never done before and it definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone.

      Interview

Very odd, one hirevue and then they fly you out to chicago. The chicago process is smooth. One interview and roll play. Great time to practice skills and continue to get better.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about yourself and to sell them a product I use everyday. They also asked for a time I showed dedication to achieve a goal.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Keyence

      Interview

The interview process starts with an informational session. After that, you complete a digital interview assessment, and only those who pass move on to a traditional Zoom interview. There are definitely a lot of stages you have to pass to get to the final round.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They may conduct a mock sales conversation where you will have to sell them something. Or they may ask you what you think will be the hardest part of the job.

Good practice for the job, multiple stages involving phone screening with HR, meeting with director, then mock presentation and interview with manager. Make sure to practice discovery questions for the mock presentations to help you understand client needs.
