      Line Cook Interview

      Sep 25, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Cleveland, OH
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Johnny's (Cleveland, OH) in Jan 2014

      Interview

The owner looked in the air while puffing a cigarette and nodding while the Exec asked typical questions. The Exec was very pleased with him self. He talked all about his education, his travels and creative edge. He elaborated on how sophisticated and complex it is to work within his brigade of highly elite chefs. After interview one, I waited roughly a week for them to call me back for interview two. In the follow up interview it was just more of the same. We talked dollar amounts, went over hours and flow of service. Every thing sounded good so I signed on. Before I started, I had some questions for the Exec; in the conversation the pay scale briefly came up, to my amazement the offer he initially made had been manipulated. Due to the inconsistency, we had to do a third interview where me and the Exec met in an empty dimly lit room to redefine the agreement. Weirdly the owner stood in the background listening, while pretending to be reading the newspaper. He would watch us talking and when ever I looked over he would quickly look back at the newspaper as if he wasn't watching. Weird. Unfortunately, I had already gave my other job notice and was now locked into the manipulative, creepy, arrogant agreement.....
